When it comes to cute farm animals, highland cows are hard to beat! If you have ever wanted to get up close to a Highland cow but are not planning a trip to Scotland, this is the place to do it!
Located in Swinithwaite,, The Wensleydale Experience is a working farm right in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Here you can meet and feed highland cows but also experience the life of a farmer.
It’s a great option for adults and kids and can easily be reached from Leeds or York in about 90 minutes.

🐮 What is it?
It’s a working farm in the Yorkshire Dales National Park where you get a proper hands-on experience.
The Farm & Highland Cow Experience is the main one.
It starts at 9:30am, runs between 2 and 3 hours, and begins and ends with a cup of tea or coffee. ☕
You will feed the Highland cattle and meet the South Devon beef herd.
You’ll also meet the pigs and go on a ride in their Land Rover Defender. 🚙
It is fully seasonal, so you are helping with whatever jobs need doing that day. That might mean moving stock, mucking out or something else. 🧹
If you have little ones, there is also a shorter Farm Tour. It runs for an hour and includes the sheep, pigs, goats, llamas and chickens. 🐑
If there is a particular animal you are desperate to meet, let them know and they’ll do their best to include it. 🐖
